PZYLO

Concept

PZYLO is a revolutionary fabric made from a blend of Zeolite cotton and Jamaican bamboo upholstery cloth. This innovative combination is designed to absorb air pollutants and odours while providing superior insulation and comfort. The Zeolite cotton, enhanced with Zeolite Imidazolate Frameworks (ZIF-8@CM Cotton and ZIF-67@CM Cotton), specifically targets harmful organic pollutants. Complementing this is the Jamaican bamboo upholstery cloth, known for its high absorbency, breathability, and ultra-soft texture, which also acts as an efficient insulating layer. Together, these materials form PZYLO, a sustainable and effective solution for air purification and climate control in the hospitality industry.

The hospitality industry is a significant contributor to global carbon emissions, largely due to fumes from cooking and the heavy use of air conditioning units. PZYLO aims to mitigate these impacts by offering an innovative solution that enhances guest experience, reduces energy consumption, and promotes environmental sustainability. PZYLO is designed for the hospitality industry, particularly accommodation and transportation services. It also extends its benefits to sectors requiring air purification and temperature control, such as food and beverage services. The primary beneficiaries are guests, staff, and business owners within these industries. By providing cleaner air and a more comfortable climate, PZYLO significantly improves the overall guest experience.

The insulating properties of the bamboo cloth help maintain cooler temperatures more efficiently, reducing the need for continuous air conditioning. Using eco-friendly materials like zeolite cotton and bamboo cloth, PZYLO reduces the environmental footprint of the hospitality industry. Additionally, bamboo cloth offers resistance to odours, mould, mildew, and bacteria, contributing to improved hygiene and guest comfort. PZYLO tackles the following main problems: air pollution and indoor air quality, energy consumption, and environmental impact. Poor indoor air quality can negatively impact guest and staff health. PZYLO absorbs air pollutants and odours, ensuring a healthier environment.

The hospitality industry is known for its high energy consumption. PZYLO cloth helps reduce energy use and environmental impact by providing a natural and sustainable solution for temperature control. PZYLO uses modified zeolite cotton and bamboo cloth for air purification and temperature regulation, presenting novel solutions to traditional challenges in the hospitality industry. The product addresses significant issues like poor indoor air quality and high energy consumption, making it an attractive investment because it can enhance guest experiences and reduce operational costs. Utilizing existing materials that are proven effective, PZYLO can be easily integrated into current hospitality infrastructure, such as in airplanes as seat coverings.

Supported by research from institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, the effectiveness of zeolite cotton and bamboo cloth in air purification and temperature regulation underscores the product’s technical viability. With PZYLO, the hospitality industry can embrace a new era of environmental responsibility, enhanced guest comfort, and operational efficiency. Invest in PZYLO and help us create a world where everyone can “Breathe anew.”

About Abigale Forbes

Abigale Forbes, a proud Jamaican girl with a deep passion for everything “green,” driven by the vibrant spirit of her homeland and the urgent need to protect our planet. “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children,” as Chief Seattle profoundly stated, and this principle resonates deeply with her. Growing up surrounded by the natural beauty of Jamaica, she has witnessed both the wonders of the environment and the pressing challenges it faces. This encapsulates their motivation for creating PZYLO.

To Abigale, sustainability is more than a buzzword; it’s a way of life. Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “The Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed,” inspire her to seek solutions that harmonize human progress with environmental stewardship. This invaluable opportunity has provided her grounds to do just that.

The inspiration behind their project blossomed through first-hand contacts with the problems they aim to address. As a result, she is fuelled by a desire to innovate and create sustainable products that mitigate these issues. She aims to be at the forefront of this crucial battle, embodying the spirit of positive change and leaving a lasting, great impact on the world.

About Dedranae Davis

Dedranae Davis, a keen representation of the Jamaican saying ‘likkle but we tallawah,’ is a persistent and hardworking girl from Jamaica who, regardless of challenges presented, seeks the best solutions through hard work and dedication. Being the eldest of four girls and the first in her family to pursue tertiary education, she aims to excel in her latest endeavor.

With an interest in numbers, her pursuit of an accounting degree was born. She is a lover of books, be they fiction or non-fiction, great music, good vibes, and amazing food. Traveling is also a great interest of hers, and with an interest in the tourism sector and all it offers, she opted to partake in a tourism course.

The Sustainable Hospitality Challenge (SHC), brought forth and highlighted the numerous challenges the hospitality industry and the world at large faces, and questioned how to sustainably solve them. Dedranae believes sustainability speaks not only to the present but also to future generations and how they are impacted. As a part of the present generation, she hopes to help preserve as much of the economy for future generations. PZYLO was created with numerous air pollutants in mind and how to reduce the need for air conditioning units.

“The opportunity SHC has created was certainly unexpected, but I’ve persisted and engaged in this endeavor, and I am excited to share and learn from different individuals from all over the world.
‘No matter what expect the unexpected. And whenever possible be the unexpected.’ ~ Lynda Barry”
