Nineveh at its time was among the greatest cities in Mesopotamia, always having a futuristic approach in its planning. Gardens, libraries and community spaces were key elements of Nineveh`s structure, which leads to this projects name being inspired and derived from this ancient city.
The world is changing at a fast pace, demanding industries to adapt in order to combat becoming obsolete. By 2050, urban population accounts to 6.6 billion, representing an increase of 36% compared to 2020. Simultaneously, the population is ageing which collectively pose great social and environmental sustainability challenges for mega cities.
Owning assets will no longer be a societal desire and access to assets through a leasing structure will be the new principle. Buying experiences is a hype, while emphasising on the greatest customisation possible. Job offers will be accepted according to one’s skill and more importantly if one identifies with the underlying purpose of it. Lines between work and private life will blur in a mass-market working remotely, resulting in society demanding freedom in scheduling time and emphasising on mental and physical health. Following, the 2050 persona is a nomad travelling between cities around the globe, while emphasising the efficient use and personalisation of space.
Nineveh aims to:

This results in the three main pillars of Nineveh: health & community, customer experience and environmental sustainability.
Sleep deprivation is the greatest public health challenge of the 21st century impacting human health, life expectancy and productivity. Nineveh facilitates beds monitoring and analysing one’s sleep, to ensure the ability to work, relax and learn efficiently. Rewarding those residents consciously deciding for a healthy and sustainable lifestyle safeguards preventing diseases rather than curing these. Further, access to health care is eased within private spaces. Residents are enabled to cultivate far-distance relationships in high-tech areas or to foster real-life connections in a natural setting in the urban garden or different community spaces.
Ensuring guest satisfaction and perceived customer value, the greatest level of customisation is provided. Facial recognition enhanced by advanced AI will analyse the guests’ mood and emotions. The collected data will be used to arrange for instance room arrangements and suggestions for real-life connections. Retractable furniture from the ceiling comprises work, life, sleep and health facilities to ensure the most effective use of space while providing the necessary customisation.
Minimising the environmental impact of the building, modules will be 3D-printed off-site and assembled on-site. Whole modules or the smallest parts of modules can be modified and refurbished ensuring a longer lifetime of the building. Being net zero by the means of heat, energy and water resources, Nineveh contributes to sustaining the planet while ensuring to give back any surplus of created resources to the community. Additional air-purifying elements in the building’s façade and an urban garden on the top floor, growing large yields of produce through a ‘smart plant’ system, account for added societal benefits.
Nineveh is a building that reinvents the customer experience in a way that is needed for 2050. Incorporating health & community aspects, highly customisable areas and a sustainable way of building and maintaining real estate, Nineveh aspires to transform the way we conceptualise, design, plan, execute, use and re-use real-estate projects.
